Deliver Nigeria, Peter Obi Prays At Dunamis Church

  Labor party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Friday night, prayed for Nigeria on his visit to Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja. Holding a Nigerian flag, while on his knees, he prayed for Nigeria saying, “God we have no other country except this one, God deliver us, God heal us, God librate us, we have no nation except this one, God deliver us.” Obi was on the platform with Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State and the First Lady of Delta State, Edith Okowa and a pastor, who also prayed for Nigeria. Kidnappers of Nollywood actors demand $100, 000 ransom

The kidnappers who abducted Nollywood actors, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, aka Agbogidi, while they were returning from a movie set at Ozalla town in Enugu state have reached out to their families, demanding a ransom of $100,000. The actors were reported missing after their family members confirmed they didn’t return home from the movie set on Thursday, July 28. In a new development, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN. Emeka Rollas, said the abductors of the actors have contacted their families and are demanding the lump sum in dollars. Mr Rollas said the guild is working with the security agents while still hoping for God's intervention to rescue the actors unhurt. He also disclosed that the kidnappers have cleared out the account of actress Cynthia Okereke after the abduction.

 Severe torrential rains in the UAE In the Emirates, videos published by local Emirati accounts showed the collapse of roads and shops in several cities, the most affected of which was the city of Kalba in Fujairah. The continuous rain since Wednesday, swept away cars, amid official warnings against crossing valleys and areas of rainwater flow. Emirati activists on social media said that the torrent caused material damage, amid fears of continued rain. Tweeters shared videos from airport street in Fujairah showing the road collapse and a number of cars damaged on its sides.

NIGERIANS TO PAY 5% EXERCISE DUTY TO FG FOR PHONE CALLS AN DATA

  The federal government is set to implement five per cent inclusive excise duty on telecommunications services in Nigeria, a move that will make Nigerians pay 12.5 per cent tax on telecommunications services. Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed made the announcement on Thursday July 28, at a stakeholders’ forum on the implementation of excise duty on telecommunications services in Nigeria. Speaking at the event organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Ahmed who was represented by the Assistant Chief Officer of the Ministry, Frank Oshanipin, said the five per cent excise duty has been in the Finance Act 2020 but was not implemented. The delay in its implementation according to the Minister, was as a result of government’s engagement with stakeholders. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, says Nigeria is currently broke. The Minister mentioned this while speaking at the 2022 World Day Against Child Labour. According to him, the Federal Government does not have money to prosecute capital projects next year, a development that might worsen unemployment and poverty.⁣ ⁣ “I can tell you that Nigeria is broke. There is no money to fund capital projects next year. As you can see, the dollar that has been hovering around N500 and N600 is now above N700. The truth is that there is no money anywhere. 23 YEAR OLD COMMITS SUICIDE IN LAGOS

A 23-year-old graduate of Business Administration from York University in Canada, Chinonso Anene, has allegedly committed suicide in Lagos. According to reports, Anene reportedly locked himself inside his apartment at House 9, Emmanuel Court, Olusegun Aina Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, and thereafter used a pump action gun to shoot himself. His lifeless body was discovered inside the wardrobe when police officers broke the door to his apartment. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Benjamin Huydeyin, said ''The DPO Ikoyi Division received a distress call from the Chief Security Officer of Parkview Estate, Mr Daramola, that Chinonso Anene has committed suicide. Based on the report, a team of detectives visited and photographed the scene, the door was forced open and one expended cartridge was recovered. The remains of the deceased have been deposited at Lagos Island morgue for autopsy while an investigation is ongoing.”

  Controversial Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has told President Muhammadu Buhari to stop blaming the media for terrorist attacks, stating that the President rewards failure with ambassadorial appointments. Gumi stated this while reacting to the Federal Government’s plan to sanction the BBC Africa Eye and Daily Trust over their recent reports on the issue of politics of insecurity. The Islamic cleric blamed illiteracy for the insecurity in the North.   The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has claimed he is not a slave in response to an interview granted by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar. Wike also downplayed the possibility of dumping PDP due to the fallout of the party’s presidential primaries. Wike said he would soon tell Nigerians the truth about the situation of PDP.
