Youth corper murdered by armed rubbers inside his apartment in Adamawa State

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Samaila Sabo Awudu, 28, has been killed by suspected robbers in Adamawa State.  It is reported that the assailants invaded his room on Friday, August 26, 2022, stabbed him and made away with his laptop, mobile phone and other valuables.  The 28-year-old Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI) Taraba State graduate, fondly known as Sam the Drummer, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) where he passed on.  A Corps member at the Yolde Pate Lodge told TheNation that the k#llers locked up all the doors of the other Lodge residents before going to Samaila’s room, h#tting him with an axe and left him for de@d. The state NYSC Director, Jingi Dennis, and police spokesman Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident. However, the deceased corps member has now been laid to rest with some of his colleagues demanding justice for him.

Lagos/Owerri Bound Air Peace Aircraft Suffers Bird Strike

An Air Peace Lagos/Owerri bound has suffered bird strike which caused the aircraft to make an air return back to Lagos. Confirming this in a statement, the airline declared: “This is to inform the flying public and our esteemed customers that Air Peace flight P47154, which departed Lagos at 12:00hrs today, August 27, 2022, for Owerri, could not land due to a bird strike that got the bird stuck on the left main landing gear. “The strike affected the operating parameters of the landing gear which made the pilots follow regulatory safety procedures by returning to Lagos where they landed the aircraft safely without any incident. “Passengers disembarked normally and another aircraft has been deployed to operate the flight.” The airline apologised for the inconveniences the development caused to all passengers affected by this situation even as they assured of strict compliance with established safety standards.

Lawyers Stole Phones, Bags At NBA Conference, Olumide Akpata Laments

The president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata, has revealed that some lawyers engaged in stealing during the association’s annual conference.  Akpata stated this on Thursday during the Annual General Meeting of the NBA holding at the Eko Atlantic City, Lagos. He said, “Our colleagues stole bags, our colleagues stole phones, our colleagues beat up staff because we have video evidence. We are going to get the experts to look through those videos. Sokoto Diocese Concludes Eucharistic Congress

  The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah says it is regrettable the level of irreverence to the Holy Eucharist by Catholics in modern day Catholic life. Such poor reverence he said was not limited to the lay faithful. Some priests he added are not giving reverence to the Eucharist as they ought to do. Deborah, a 200 Level student of Home Economics at Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was murdered by Islamic extremists and set ablaze after she advised her classmates against posting religious materials on their WhatsApp page. FG bans use of foreign models, voice-over artists in Nigerian adverts

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has banned the use of foreign voice-over artists and models from Saturday, October 1. ARCON director-general Olalekan Fadolapo in a statement said the ban is in line with the Federal Government’s policy to develop local talent and inclusive economic growth for sectors of the country, including advertising. “ARCON, being the apex advertising, advertisement and marketing communications’ regulatory agency of the Federal Government, has in accordance with its statutory mandates, responsibilities and powers as conveyed by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act No. 23 of 2022 bans the use of foreign models and voice-over artists on any advertisement targeted of exposed on the Nigerian advertising space with effect from Ist October 2022,” Fadolapo said. Nigerian teenager invents robot working with exoskeleton remote control

  A 17-year-old boy in Kano State, Isah Auwal-Barde, has invented a robot that works with robotic exoskeleton remote control. Exoskeleton remote control is a system of controlling a robot by the person operating it through demonstration with parts of his body. The Robot inventor Auwal-Barde told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Saturday that he grew up with passion of creativity. He explained that he graduated from Government Secondary School (GSS), Sabuwar-Kofa, Kano, in 2021, and obtained seven credits in science subjects in the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

Lady faces two years imprisonment over her ‘indecent dressing’ to a concert in Rwanda

   A 24-year-old Rwandan woman, Liliane Mugabekazi who was arrested on August 7 after attending a concert wearing a sheer dress, has been charged to court for indecent dressing. Photo of Liliane who was at the concert by a popular French musician, Tayc a few days ago had trended online. Busingye Johnston who is currently Rwanda’s ambassador to Britain had in a tweet on his verified handle condemned Liliane’s mode of dressing, describing it as an objectionable act. He wrote, “The current issue of our young men and women who drink and dr*g themselves unconscious, appear in public literally naked is objectionable.” Spokesman for the prosecution, Faustin Nkusi had said the woman committed serious crime for appearing “n@ked” in public, saying it was a “shameful dress”. According to Rwanda’s newspaper, The Chronicles, the 24-year-old lady was charged to court on Thursday. Reports had it that Liliane’s lawyer asked the court for the case to be heard on camera.

2023 Is Not Time For Ethnic Politics, Says Obasanjo

The former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that the 2023 election is not the time to play politics of ethnicity. He said this during a visit by veteran entertainer, Charly Boy, to his residence on Friday.
